What is xiB?
The xiB cameras stream images to the host computer via 4 lanes on a PCI Express Gen2 bus, boasting an impressive 20 Gbit/s of bandwidth.
Together with minimal latencies and CPU load, the PCIe technology is ideal for high resolution CMOS sensors or sCMOS sensors with dual-ADC outputs.
The active EF lens mount adapter enables the combination with a wide array of superb optics, with direct control over the aperture and focus.
The use of optical fiber cables allows up to 100 m distances between cameras and host computer without performance penalty.

XIMEA model names are made up of short codes that describe key characteristics of a camera. The example below (CB500MG-CM-X8G3) shows how a typical name is put together, and the table explains the codes used in this camera family. It is meant as a quick guide: individual models may deviate, so the datasheet remains the binding reference.
