XIMEA imaging for volumetric capture, virtual production, and XR

At SIGGRAPH 2026, XIMEA is bringing a lineup built around what next-generation visual computing actually demands: high pixel counts, high-bandwidth real-time streaming, and frame-accurate synchronization across many cameras at once. Whether you are capturing digital humans, driving a virtual production stage, or building an XR rig, the bottleneck is rarely the sensor — it is everything around it. That is where our cameras are designed to perform.

High-res PCIe for volumetric capture & virtual production

When detail is the deliverable, the xiX-XL series brings medium-format Sony sensors up to 245 Mpix (IMX811) with real-time PCIe Gen3 streaming. It is built for the high-fidelity end of the pipeline: volumetric stages, digital humans, and advanced visualization workflows where resolution and sustained bandwidth have to arrive together.

Modular architectures for multi-camera rigs

Complex setups live or die by how cleanly cameras fit the space they are mounted in. The xiX-Xtreme series and detachable sensor-head designs let you separate the sensor from the camera body, so you can pack imagers tightly into multi-camera rigs, XR setups, and robotic systems where weight and footprint are the real constraints.

High-speed USB3 for real-time workflows

For motion capture, rendering pipelines, and AI training environments, our high-speed USB3 camera range (xiQ and xiC) combines fast frame rates, low latency, and stable performance — the kind of reliable real-time throughput that keeps interactive content creation responsive rather than buffered.

Subminiature imaging for embedded & wearable systems

Small size is not a compromise in our lineup, it is an engineering target. The xiMU series starts at 15 x 15 mm and delivers up to 20 Mpix with global shutter and low power consumption — ideal for embedded vision, wearables, and tracking setups where conventional cameras are simply too large.

Built for multi-camera environments

Across the lineup, XIMEA cameras are designed for scale: precise synchronization, global shutter sensors, and low-latency streaming that integrate cleanly into professional imaging pipelines - so adding the tenth or fiftieth camera does not mean rebuilding your sync chain.

Customization

When standard products reach their limits, our customization capability steps in. XIMEA engineers work directly with integrators to adapt sensor selection, form factor, connector placement, and interface type to the application. If the off-the-shelf model is 90 % of what you need, we will get you the remaining 10 %.

Edge AI Vision for NVIDIA Jetson - Powered by XIMEA xEC

XIMEA offers xEC carrier boards for NVIDIA Jetson™ modules (Orin NX, Xavier, Nano) that support up to three PCIe-based xiX cameras, with high-speed data transfer via FireFly cables, M.2 NVMe storage, and 10 GbE. This setup enables real-time embedded vision systems with low latency, capable of processing and streaming multiple synchronized camera feeds using the Jetson’s onboard GPU for tasks like color correction, demosaicing, encoding, and AI inference. Ideal for compact, high-performance applications in robotics, XR, and edge AI.

New sensor models are now available across xiX-XL and xiX-Xtreme series cameras, providing you with immediate access to the latest in high-performance imaging. The detachable sensor head at the core redefines what's possible in system architecture, thermal control, and overall performance. Both camera series feature a PCIe Gen3 interface, ensuring high-speed data transfer and low-latency. The choice between xiX-XL and xiX-Xtreme depends on a blend of maximum resolution, frame rate and form factor needed for your specific application.
