β What happened
Microsoft's April 2026 security update changed how Windows validates driver signatures, removing trust for an older signing scheme that our current USB camera driver relies on. This is an industry-wide change affecting multiple hardware vendors - it is not a defect in XIMEA hardware or software. The update is being rolled out gradually across Windows 11 systems, which is why some users have been affected sooner than others. Impact will broaden as the update reaches more machines.

π₯ What this means for you
On systems that have received this update, XIMEA USB cameras may fail to initialize or be recognised by the driver. PCIe camera products are not affected.

π§ Interim workaround
We are currently working on an interim workaround to restore functionality while the permanent fix is being developed. Step-by-step instructions will be published here as soon as they are available. We recognise this is an inconvenience and do not consider it a long-term solution.

π Permanent fix
We are actively working to re-certify and re-sign our USB camera driver through Microsoft's current certification program. Our software team is assessing the fastest available path. A timeline update will be provided as soon as scope and options have been fully evaluated.
