XIMEA @ SPIE.Defense + Security 2026

Drones have fundamentally changed how defense and security missions are conducted. From ISR and border surveillance to target acquisition and damage assessment. But the camera at the heart of every aerial system is where mission success or failure is often decided. At SPIE Defense + Security 2026, XIMEA is bringing a focused lineup of imaging solutions purpose-built for UAV and drone-based applications: from sub-5g miniature modules for tight embedded payloads to large-format, high-resolution cameras capable of capturing wide-area imagery with surgical detail.

Whether you are integrating a vision system into a micro-UAV or specifying the sensor stack for a full-size reconnaissance platform, the core imaging requirements converge on the same fundamentals: no motion artifacts, sufficient resolution to extract actionable data, and a form factor that won't compromise flight dynamics. XIMEA cameras are engineered around exactly these constraints.

xiX-XL series - High-resolution large format cameras

xiMU series - Tiny cameras for embedded systems

Custom projects - Customizable and OEM configurations

The xiX-XL series puts medium-format Sony sensors (up to 245 Mpix) into a compact PCIe camera body. For wide-area mapping, persistent surveillance, and any application requiring maximum ground sampling distance, these cameras deliver a level of spatial detail that smaller sensors fundamentally cannot match.

Our xiMU series represents some of the world's smallest USB3 industrial cameras, starting at 15×15 mm, with global and rolling shutter sensors up to 20 Mpix, and mass-optimized housings suited for tight UAV payloads. They carry full industrial-grade reliability, hardware trigger support, and SDK compatibility across Linux and Windows.

Standard products often don't survive first contact with real-world drone integration requirements. Our engineers work directly with system integrators to adapt sensor selection, PCB layout, connector placement, thermal management, and interface type. If the off-the-shelf model is 90% of what you need, we'll get you the remaining 10%.
