MÜNSTER, Germany – CURRERA, a complete vision system incorporating advanced camera technology and an onboard PC, supports Windows Embedded 7, said XIMEA. XIMEA is a developer and supplier of industrial smart cameras including the breakthrough CURRERA.

By integrating smart camera and traditional imaging system technologies, CURRERA brings significant computational power and remarkable convenience to the front end of vision systems. Thus it will help to advance a range of applications, from labels inspection and barcode reading in the pharmaceutical industry to robot guidance and positioning in 3D, for the object and pattern detection and more.

The system is rugged and compact, with IP67 housing, and exceedingly robust. It offers Intel Atom Z5xx processors and a range of CMOS sensors, from WVGA to 5Mpix, while it is integrated with 20+ image processing libraries and supports a variety of user-friendly vision application development frameworks.

CURRERA users will benefit from the many features of Windows Embedded 7.  The Hibernate Once/Resume Many (HORM) feature, will lead to improved cold start time, for example, while the new optimized TCP/IP stack will decrease CPU load on network-intensive applications. Other advantages of the operating system include improved power management and the ability to boot from an SD card.

“We are excited to offer Windows Embedded 7 with our CURRERA camera, which takes advantage of its many features and thus demonstrates its robustness,” said Klimkovic, co-CEO at XIMEA. “We expect the CURRERA community to grow considerably in the coming years and WES7 will provide an excellent platform for this broad spectrum of users.”
